November Schooling

Well, at least there's proof of something! :)

Family Home Evening- it's been very consistent and I'm very happy for that. Here's a sample of one night.

Cookies!
It was so interesting to see the system that Elias created with the candy pieces in the cookies.

Elias' turkey hand.

Joseph's turkey hand. The blue turkey is hiding behind the tall turkey with one eye.

Play-doh math wearing hats from the day before!

Cooking time with a pumpkin hat! Mushroom Pizza bites. They loved to make them, but weren't fans of eating them.

Talking about where Native Americans lived and what they would need to live. Model complete with fire ring, trees, flower garden, running stream with fish and a waterfall, a pit to put stuff in, and tepees.

All done at the dentist! That totally counts as school! :)

Making your Halloween costume coins as school too, right?!

Showing off the chocolate cake balls Kaylena made for her and her brothers!

Instead of doing a lot of subjects every day, I look at the entire week and divide assignments into subjects. This allows for more focused and productive days!!

After a teacher-student conference, the verdict was that we need more "going places" in our days. So.... We are adjusting our days so we can do that!

Our lil' pumpkin is seven!

*for some reason this didn't post on Saturday! :( *

We had quite the fun, but laid-back day today. After a special movie night last night in their room, Kaylena woke up to us singing, as usual. And as usual, she rolled over to hide! Oooooh what will we do when early morning seminary comes??

I went to a baptism while they were watching Saturday morning cartoons, so when I came back we opened presents.  She discovered a new easy bake oven!! (We found it at a garage sale this past spring and have saved it!!)

She was really excited to try it out. So we did!!

While we waited for it to cook, we left dad and Elias at home while we went to get pizza for lunch!!

Over lunch we discussed Halloween options and finally settled in s Summer Fun theme. Kaylena loved the idea of decorating her shirt.

We finally came back to transforming the cake into cake balls, and she shared them with her brothers. Perfect kiddo size :)

Grandma and grandpa "goat" made a short visit and it was fun to them to see the birthday girl. Des met the kids and j trick or treating. Jason was already down at a youth dance set-up, so we came back and did gifts round three!

After getting to the youthdance at 8::30ish, we stayed until 9:50 and the older kids danced the night away while Elias slept on the church couch. Kaylena loved loved loved dancing. I'd say she had a great birthday!

Happy birthday to our little lady. She's straightforward, kind, and helpful. She loves to make things, create art, and clean. I'm so grateful for all she teaches us.

Zoo Day

Back to school day for OKVPA at the OkC zoo.

They saw an owlette and then got to pet this possum from South America! After that, the zoo-per powered animal they got to meet was the Armadillo "speedy". The kids had a good time with him.

We went back and got Elias from a friend's house and came back to the zoo to look around for the last hour they were open.

Kaylena absolutely loves the flamingos.

The nocturnal barn was cool- especially since they learned about bats and owls in the class earlier that day.

My three giraffes :)
